Healthy Breakfast Caring for Your Face

I don’t wear make up because my face is sensitive. I do get pimples when I put blush on. The only thing that I put on my face is soap, toner and moisturizer. It is much like preparing for a healthy breakfast; you need to choose deliberately to be healthy to be free from break outs. I think that it pretty works best for me because my skin is clear and I don’t have many wrinkles at 33 years old.  How do I care for my skin?

·First off, I don’t use cosmetics. I learned this from my grandmother. She has a clear skin because she does not wear make up unless there’s a really special occasion. Eat more healthy food and when you are old it gives you a real break from worrying due ageing fast.
· Since I travel using public utility vehicle which exposes me to dust, I don’t wear moisturizer prior to leaving home for work. I wash my face as soon as I arrive in the office and use a moisturizer. I also my hair with a wet tissue to remove the dusts.
· If it is cold and I noticed that my face is dry, I reapply moisturizer. Moisture helps you break free from breakouts or pimples that grow fast when you are in un-healthy environment.
· As soon as I arrive home, I also wash my face, apply a toner and moisturizer. I still wipe my hair but now with a wet face towel.
· Eat healthy breakfast at all times.

Since my face is highly sensitive, I choose my beauty products carefully. I only use organic products and for me those are products from Human Heart Nature. They are made locally and are very affordable. Having a healthy face and a healthy breakfast is a really good combination to aged beautifully and gracefully.

Healthy Breakfast: Loving Your Husband

I have been married for almost 5 years. He was my only boyfriend definitely not my only crush but yes, I love him. He was my boyfriend for 9 years. We had some fights but we made it and we got married. I have known him since I was 4 years old. He was my classmate since kindergarten. We were never close but I know him. The special relationship only happened when were already in college. Just like me, he is not an achiever. He also came from a broken family. There were lots of ups and downs for us while growing up. I was already a manager when we got married. While he just came back from work abroad and unsure what his next move is for career. I got pregnant. We are definitely not ready to get married but we made it through. We had a small savings and I applied for government loans. Then, we had a baby. He eventually got a work but with a very low salary. We managed it but we had fights. I felt like I was pushed with no choice when I got pregnant. I was studying law then and I stopped. We had fights but we never broke up. Almost but never did.

Right now, we are trying to complement with each other. Trying to respect and be more loving to each other. I can say that it is perfect in its own sense. I love my husband and I feel that he loves me too.

So, how do you make a marriage work?

·  Be affectionate towards each other. Affection is just like breakfast, you have to deliberately choose that it is healthy. It definitely adds life to your marriage.
·  Talk with each other. Have breakfast together even if it is only once a week. It is a healthy way of showing that you have time for your spouse over a healthy breakfast.
·  Support each other’s dreams. My husband knows that I am creating a blog on healthy breakfast and he supports me all the way. He doesn’t mock me no matter how crazy my healthy breakfast idea is.
·  Worship the Lord together. We’re both working so going to the church is like breaking a fast and a healthy way to bring our daughter to love God.
·  Be showy in how you care for him. Like preparing a really good breakfast for him and making sure that he is healthy by making a good breakfast.
·  Never forget sex. One must not forget this. It is like a healthy breakfast to freshen up your marriage.
·  Grow together.

Healthy Breakfast: Handling Disappointments

Having to deal with frustrations affects your health. You cannot have a healthy breakfast if you are feeling down. It doesn’t only make you stagnant for a while but it also loses your interest in living a full life or even the drive to prepare a healthy breakfast. You begin to questions things and even question your capabilities. I believe that I am a pretty smart person. I graduated third honorable mention in high school and graduated with academic distinction in college. I took Accounting but I am not a CPA. It wasn’t my priority when I was younger. I know my abilities but other people don’t. So more often than not, they feel that I am not smart enough for not having license. For me, it is no biggie but for some people and my father, it is. Over a grumpy breakfast and not so healthy conversations, these are brought up by my dad. I am pretty successful in my career. I am a manager at 26 years old. I moved up from the ladder quite fast. I know my worth but at this point, I realized that I am a mediocre all my life.  Having to think about it makes me not have a drive to even create a blog on healthy breakfast.

The reasons why I did not excel were because my parents never expected me to excel. If having a healthy breakfast means having fruits, I lack that in my life. My mom rarely attends PTA meetings; she’s not involved in my studies, she is not interested in giving healthy breakfast for her kids. I was never pressured to achieve things. I studied on my own and did things on my own. My parents never got involved with my projects. I also wasn’t vocal that I needed their support. Our breakfasts do not involve healthy conversations about our plans. I guess that it is because of the dysfunctional nature that my family experienced. My mom and dad got separated when I was in primary school. I remember graduating in Elementary with my father in the audience and my mom just got birth with our youngest sibling. No special treatment but I went through it just like any ordinary day. It was I think painful but these memories along with the others are kept in my heart. As what the saying goes – what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

Now that I am a mom, I really try to give the best for my kid. To support her and to let her know that she has something within her that is useful to the world. She isn’t shy to sing and dance and she is very expressive. I intend to do it as long as I live. I want my daughter to achieve and get the best things life has to offer. I ensure that she has healthy breakfasts all her life.

I am no stranger to disappointments so I think that at least, I have the capacity to give tips on how to handle them. In the same manner that I can write a blog on healthy breakfast.

1.        Feel your pain. Do not escape from what you are feeling because it will not go away. It may for a while but it will come back again. It is the same as munching your breakfast and seeing that it is healthy.
2.        Don’t go around moping and being a bitch to other people just because you are feeling down. Trust me, you will regret it if you treat others bad just because you are frustrated.
3.        Evaluate your situation. When you are pushed to the ground and is feeling really disappointed, it pushes you to get out of the disappointment. The best way to handle it is to be objective and to list down things that will make your situation change for the better.
4.        Squeeze life lessons through what you are feeling. Believe me, this is the time where you are being pushed to be your best self.  It is similar to being sick. While you’re in pain, you have to remember that you need to squeeze your time to still eat a breakfast if you want to be healthy.

Just like me, I realized that I have a lot of potential to grow more but I refused to do that out of my experience with the dysfunctional family and probably out of habit but now I realized that I am disappointed because I think I can do more. I don’t want to be a mediocre anymore. I can change my life and not be immature about things. There is more than I can do to achieve the best version of myself. There is more than I can do like creating a blog on healthy breakfast for myself and for others.

Healthy Breakfast: Organizing Your Work

Having been employed for the past 13 years and moved from one position to another, not to mention the promotions I got from the companies I have worked for, I think I am fairly experienced in organizing my work. I have ensured that daily, I use an organized work pattern to make everything work efficiently and effectively. One secret of having a healthy breakfast is to free your mind from clutter and being organized keeps you away from stress.

Arrive in your workplace on time. No matter how far you are from your workplace, the moment you sign the job offer, you commit to reporting for work on time every day. Eat your healthy breakfast earlier and travel for work earlier too.

Coffee and retouches, only before start of shift. When you arrive early do your personal stuff like making your coffee and retouching your make up. However, be professional to sit and start working at the 1st minute of the start of your shift. Do not come to work and leave your workstation after a few minutes to do your personal stuff. Always remember that having a healthy breakfast is not rushing. Coffee and personal retouch is part of having a healthy breakfast and should not be done during working hours.

Open your calendar and take note of your meetings and appointments all throughout the day. This is showing respect to our people’s time and this increases your professionalism by being on time all the time. This is similar to respecting the people you want to share your healthy breakfast with. You don’t let them wait.

Read and respond to urgent and important emails. It is good to have a separate folder for your bosses and important clients’ emails. Respond to them as soon as possible. Then, read all your other emails but only give importance to the business related ones.

Create an Issues Log tracker. This allows you to list down all your open tasks. You should have the following columns to make it more organized.

1.        Name of Task
2.        Owner
3.        Due Date
4.        Status – make a drop down list (open, in progress and completed)

These are only few things to do to start your day at work. Just like a healthy breakfast organization is important.

Why Healthy Breakfast?

Some of you will ask why on earth in certain hours of the day I focused my energy to creating a blog about healthy breakfast. There is only one answer. I want to help people take control of their health by eating healthy breakfast every day. Everything starts from your healthy breakfast.  This is to teach people that they need to be the doctors of their health and not rely on drugs and medicines to get well.

There is a deeper reason for healthy breakfast. A few years ago, my grandmother got sick and she was hospitalized. She had hypertension and kidney complications. Her sons who are in the US are very worried about her condition that they called the hospital to have kidney and heart specialists check her. They did and we were happy. We were only surprised to see that the hospital bill added P5, 000 for each check up that the specialists did. What they actually do is just check her for 5-10 minutes during their rounds in the hospital and the laboratory results and the 5k is gone. As human beings, doctors can do more than that. There’s too much consumerism in healthcare and in the hospitals. We need to start our healthy breakfast and take control of our health.

What I will be putting in my blog, healthy breakfast are health tips, recipes and everything under the sun to help people understand that the world of healing is free for everyone. I will be referencing people who are protagonists of this health revolution and in a little way; we will be able to break the bondage that we are in.

Not This:

But This:

Healthy Breakfast: Pinakbet (Filipino Vegetable Dish)

Since it’s a Sunday, I woke up really early after having spent 11-12 hours of sleep. It was around 6AM and my tummy is churning because I am huuungry and I am craving for my healthy breakfast! I went to the kitchen and no one is cooking yet. I went to the other room and woke up Mae, our helper. I checked the fridge and found out that we still have veggies that are 2 weeks old from purchase. This is actually a good way to have a healthy breakfast. I took out the local ones – squash, string beans, eggplant and winged beans. There are vegetables with lots of nutrients and will make one a hearty breakfast and a healthy body. I gave her my instructions to peel and slice the veggies, buy shrimp and fish in the market. After 30 minutes or so, I realized that she went out already, done with the slicing but not including the garlic and onion. So, I just decided to slice them myself and helped out in cooking. I used Mama Sita’s Oyster Sauce to make my Pinakbet tasty. I am almost halfway to my cooking when Mae arrived. Oh well, honestly I am irritated but I did not say anything because I don’t want to spoil my quest for having a healthy breakfast daily. I just let out a not so loud sigh and put my hand on my waist. I want to start my morning with a positive attitude and not to mind the little irritants. Oh well.

Then, I also cooked buttered shrimp. Yum! I can imagine me eating my healthy breakfast now. I just actually paused because I want to wait for my husband to wake up so we can eat together.

Pinakbet (Filipino Vegetable Dish) is a popular vegetable dish in the Philippines. Pork is often added for flavor, but since we are aiming for a healthy breakfast, we will use shrimp as an ingredient.
Healthy Breakfast Recipe: PINAKBET

2 medium-length eggplants, cubed
1 medium-length bitter melon (ampalaya), sliced
6 tender okra pods
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 cup of sliced onions
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
1 cup water from rinsing rice
3 tbsp fermented sauce (less if it's a salty bagoong)
1 tbsp pounded ginger
1 cup shrimp
2 tbsp olive oil (for a healthier breakfast)

Healthy Breakfast: HOW TO PREPARE

1. In a pan, fry the shrimps. Set aside.
2. In the same pan, stir-fry the garlic, onions, ginger and tomatoes.

3.  Boil the rice-washing water in a large pan (2-qt capacity) with the bagoong.
4. Add the pork and the stir-fried garlic, onion, ginger and tomatoes.

5. Bring back to a boil, then add the ampalaya, eggplant and okra.
6. Cover the pan and cook over high heat, then turn down the heat to prevent scorching.
7. Cook until the vegetables are done.

Healthy Breakfast tips: Don't overcook because the vegetables will lose their bright colors and become mushy. It also loses its nutrients and will defeat our purpose of having a healthy breakfast.
Healthy Breakfast variations: Feel free to vary the ingredients. For instance, squash (kalabasa) is a popular ingredient because it adds a bright orange color to the dish. String beans (sitaw) are another popular vegetable in pakbet.  If you don't have bagoong on hand, just use salt or fish sauce.
